	Just finished this adaptation so that I could use my Gemtech Tundra suppressor with my newly acquired Czechmate.  <br />
	Took the better part of a day. Yet, as a master jeweler and PT gun enthusiast, I was able to obtain the part I needed to make this work. A "nut", or "barrel bushing" #46 in the manual, from a really wonderful person. Putting this all together was stressful, but, after test firing. I was really amazed at how well the gun cycled with no issues. BTW, no power loads were used in this configuration. (115gr.) I only use them when the compensator configuration is used.  <br />

	Finally got this pistol on Friday.  I was only able to put 45 rounds through it before shooting the Pineywoods Shootout on Saturday.  It ran 100% for 200 rounds, fit the IDPA box and weighed in a 42.8 ounces with an empty mag.  The only issue I had was the left side thumb safety dug into my knuckle which caused me to engage the safety enough to stop the gun 3 times.  That has already been fixed.

	I think it goes without saying. Alot of us in the shooting sports community also really enjoy cars/trucks or some form of Motor sport. Even if it's a classic or just a weekend cruiser or wild restomod. Post up a pic and tell us about it! Anything off beat, odd, ratty, or your just really proud of!

	Hey all,
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Looking for ideas on how you organize your shooting gear. I have a workbench out in the garage, so tools and stuff are covered, but I'm at a bit of a loss on how to store all the ancillary stuff that goes with our sport (gear bags, ammo, mags, etc). I typically have two or three setups between IDPA and USPSA and I'd like to figure out a way to keep the gear associated with each platform together.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Thanks!

	So, Tony Pignato has been after me for a while to build pistols for the Ranger Division.  A couple weeks ago, I called him on some unrelated business and we got around to discussing a group pistol purchase for the Texas Rangers.  He discussed it with the Heads at STI and I got approval from Austin....so we are now in the early stages of putting the deal together.  The pistol will be based on STI's new Stacatto P line of pistols.  This is a pic of the demo pistol I'm shooting/carrying right now.  The final design will have fewer rear cocking serrations and Rangers badges engraved on the rear of the slide.  So far I'm very impressed.  This pistol is feeding some bullets that other widebody pistols choked on.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Rangers will have their choice of:
</p>

<p>
	Commander or Government length
</p>

<p>
	Hard Chrome or Black DLC
</p>

<p>
	9mm or .45 ACP
</p>

	Alright, I was thinking about it today and decided that having one thread dedicated to all of my weird/unusual revolver builds would be easier than maintaining multiple separate threads for each different project, especially since it’s looking fairly certain I’m going to be adding at least a couple more revos to violate here in the near future. If you’d like to read up on what’s happened to the guns up to this point, the previous project threads can be found at these links:

</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Here’s where we currently stand:
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<a class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image" href="//media.invisioncic.com/r270761/monthly_2022_07/21E7A4A9-3DD6-41DD-A0EC-8116BC45FAED.jpeg.46170feb914aca5e3b265faf6bd6dcd8.jpeg" data-fileid="158035" data-fileext="jpeg" rel=""><img class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" data-fileid="158035" data-ratio="74.80" width="1000" alt="21E7A4A9-3DD6-41DD-A0EC-8116BC45FAED.thumb.jpeg.a78ec1b28bd9a32c475968691f77e1cb.jpeg" src="https://media.invisioncic.com/r270761/monthly_2022_07/21E7A4A9-3DD6-41DD-A0EC-8116BC45FAED.thumb.jpeg.a78ec1b28bd9a32c475968691f77e1cb.jpeg" /></a>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	As far as the “Abomination” Schofield and “Apache Pug” Knucklegun go, both projects are more or less in finished condition. They’re both verified to still be functional, the sight on the Schofield has been zeroed, and the Knucklegun has proven it can dish out some impact damage on a block of ice.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	At this point I’m just futzing around with the details some. To that end, I received the PDX1 JHP 45 Colt rounds I’d ordered for the Schofield today and have placed the rounds in the quivers where they’re supposed to go. I’ve been having a bit of difficulty (some of which was entirely my fault) with getting a pair of aftermarket grips for the Pug that properly fit the frame, and wanting to bring the two guns closer together aesthetically I decided to order new grips for both guns last night.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	The Schofield will be getting some LS Grips white mother of pearl panels which is made by the same company that made the maple floral scroll grips it’s currently wearing, so I have no concerns that the new pearl grips will mount right up to the Schofield with no issues.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	For the Pug, I also ordered a set of white mother of pearl grip panels which are coming from NAA themselves. The stock un-checkered rosewood grips are the ones that have fit the best on the Knucklegun of all the grips I’ve tried so far, and I imagine another set directly from the OEM manufacturer should mount right up with no problems.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	That will give both revolvers the common visual cues of a color case hardened frame with white mother of pearl grips, which I’ve decided will be the continuous thread running through all of my future SA revolver builds as well.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Speaking of future SA revolver builds, currently in the scheming/planning stages is a project to build an identical pair of Cimarron Thunderer guns, specifically the 4.5” 45 Colt variants:
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<a class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image" href="//media.invisioncic.com/r270761/monthly_2022_07/image.jpeg.2ddbc494a254a0440206a0333df5bb01.jpeg" data-fileid="158036" data-fileext="jpeg" rel=""><img class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" data-fileid="158036" data-ratio="61.10" width="1000" alt="image.thumb.jpeg.6cff8fc4fbf4a2272180c26ac2a90f56.jpeg" src="https://media.invisioncic.com/r270761/monthly_2022_07/image.thumb.jpeg.6cff8fc4fbf4a2272180c26ac2a90f56.jpeg" /></a>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	That build will be guided by inspiration from Sylvester Stallone’s “Ace in the Hole” revolver from The Expendables trilogy, The Gunslinger’s dual revolvers from The Dark Tower series, and more than a little bit of Cyberpunk 2077 for my particular brand of unusual cool.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Further updates on both the Schofield and Pug will be posted in this thread, and the build of the matched Thunderer pair will be chronicled here when it happens. Feel free to ask any questions you have and stand by for more!

<p>
	The frame is color case hardened while the cylinder and barrel shine in charcoal blue. The stock grips are a dark synthetic bison horn. The action is buttery smooth, the trigger is light and crisp. It is, truly, a stunningly gorgeous firearm.

	<a class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image" href="//media.invisioncic.com/r270761/monthly_2022_01/B3AFD387-D199-4E0C-9D6B-7B8690FA8594.jpeg.5ab8a9e258f15c06aa1481eb9ed378bf.jpeg" data-fileid="154473" data-fileext="jpeg" rel=""><img class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" data-fileid="154473" data-ratio="74.80" width="1000" alt="B3AFD387-D199-4E0C-9D6B-7B8690FA8594.thumb.jpeg.802269b8ad4cad722ff06cfd9e600669.jpeg" src="https://media.invisioncic.com/r270761/monthly_2022_01/B3AFD387-D199-4E0C-9D6B-7B8690FA8594.thumb.jpeg.802269b8ad4cad722ff06cfd9e600669.jpeg" /></a>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Here’s the thing…<em>I don’t really “do” iron sights anymore</em>. I’ve fully embraced the present state of technology in the industry, and that state consists of red dot sights (RDS) and weapon mounted lights (WML) on handguns. I’ve been waiting for years for S&amp;W, Ruger, Colt, or any of the other current revolver manufacturers to get their heads out of their asses (smoke enough crack?), wise up (dumb down?), and produce a truly modern top-break revolver, with the ability to mount modern components like a RDS and WML. Alas, they just won’t come to their senses and bring one to market.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	So, I’m forced to make one of my own, which brings us to this thread. This Schofield will soon be going off to my gunsmith to get a couple sections of picatinny rail properly affixed above the cylinder and below the barrel, in front of the ejector rod housing. Once the wheelgun has some proper rails securely attached, a X300U WML will be hung under the barrel in roughly the pictured location, while a tube-style red dot will be mounted and zeroed on the top rail.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	At present I’m awaiting a grip adapter piece to attempt to improve some of the atrocious ergonomics on this thing. I’ve found a source for picatinny rail sections that can be attached, but they’re currently not in stock:
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<a href="https://www.brownells.com/shooting-accessories/flashlights-accessories/flashlight-mounts/1911-tactical-light-rail-prod27001.aspx" rel="external nofollow">https://www.brownells.com/shooting-accessories/flashlights-accessories/flashlight-mounts/1911-tactical-light-rail-prod27001.aspx</a>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I may wind up taking the gun to my ‘smith without any specific rail sections and asking him to supply whatever he feels is best for the application.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I’m also currently considering aftermarket grips. I’m not a great fan of the stock bison horn, and I want to replace them with either some black pearl pieces or some engraved wood for a bit of texture:

</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	If anyone has any thoughts or recommendations for grips, I’m open to suggestions.
</p>

<p>

<p>
	Further updates will be posted as they happen, feel free to ask any questions here and I’ll do my best to answer them. Thanks for looking!

	***Note for those with short attention spans: the following is word-heavy. With that said, let’s begin...
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<strong>Introduction</strong>:
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	For as long as I’ve been into guns and shooting the bulk of my focus has been fairly evenly divided into two distinct categories of interest; The first being cutting edge, state-of-the-art-and-industry, next evolution and even near-future weapon platforms. The second category, arguably diametrically opposed with the first, is that of unique and/or quirky detours from historical firearm development. Those classic antique guns that were oddities of their time have always grabbed my attention, peaked my interest, and invoked a strange obsession appropriate of the strange nature of the guns themselves.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	To put it in different terms, I have a particular interest in firearms that could be fairly considered to be of the “Cyberpunk” and “Steampunk” genres, respectively.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	As some of you may be aware I’ve spent the last few years dedicating my time and resources towards development of the first category with my Project Nemesis builds, modifying and upgrading the Sig P320 platform with just about every useful modern gadget, gizmo, and design philosophy in an attempt to maximize the mechanical performance potential of a modern duty pistol (to those interested, that thread can be found here:
</p>
<iframe allowfullscreen="" data-controller="core.front.core.autosizeiframe" data-embedauthorid="58692" data-embedcontent="" data-embedid="embed5864136741" scrolling="no" src="https://brian-enos-forums.com/topic/259932-introducing-project-nemesis/?do=embed" style="height:370px;max-width:502px;"></iframe>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<img alt="3CC51EDE-8DE2-4B73-859A-8BC8EC9FB0F2.jpe" class="ipsImage" data-ratio="75.08" height="748" width="1000" src="https://content.invisioncic.com/r270761/monthly_2020_12/3CC51EDE-8DE2-4B73-859A-8BC8EC9FB0F2.jpeg.3ee8a8d75adebec86ac0b605849289f2.jpeg" /></p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	After many years, much effort and resources, and a lot of trial and error I’m extremely pleased with the culmination of my efforts which have resulted in a selection of some of the best shooting, most accurate, most broadly capable handguns I’ve ever shot or seen. While I have no allusions to the idea that my P320 shenanigans are or ever will be complete - there will always continue to be excellent new products and parts developed for the platform by the aftermarket that will help squeeze just a bit more performance out of the pistol - I have reached a point where I’m feeling the urge to shift my attention to the second category of interest. It’s now time for me to appreciate something old and odd.

	<strong>Background: History of the Apache Pistols</strong>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	(Note: While I’ve done my best to gather and organize the relevant historical context, I must confess I’m no history major and there’s a lot of conflicting information on this topic available to the casual researcher. I can’t vouch for the exact veracity of every claim, but this is the story as I’ve been able to decipher it)
</p>

<p>

<p>
	Anyone with even a modicum of interest in historical firearms curiosa will have at one time or another stumbled across the enigmatic “Apache” pistol - an odd amalgamation of a pinfire pepperbox revolver, a small folding dagger, and a brutish looking set of brass knuckles, all rolled into one Transformers-esque package that could be easily slipped into the pocket of a pair of ye olde trousers or smoking jacket.

<p>
	While many are likely familiar with the pistol in the video above, what many may not know is that this was just one of several variants of combination pistol/knuckleduster weapons (I prefer the term “Knuckleguns” when describing the category as a whole) that were manufactured in the mid to late 1800s.

	The most well known variant of these pistols would be the Dolne pistol, named appropriately after Louis Dolne who designed this particular variant. Other examples of Knuckleguns of the same period are the Belgian Delhaxhe combination revolver designed by Joseph Delhaxhe, the Sure Defender, and the True Companion - among other even more obscure examples.

<p>
	So where did the “Apache” name come from? While not likely used to refer to the family of Knuckleguns at the time of their manufacture or use, the Apache moniker became entangled with the Dolne revolver in particular and Knuckleguns as a whole due to their popularity among and association with members of the Parisian criminal gang “Les Apaches”, a “violent criminal underworld subculture of early 20th-century hooligans, night muggers, street gangs and other criminals,” who themselves acquired the Apache label for allegedly being “as violent and cruel as the American Apache Indians.” I’m sure their parents were very proud.

	<strong>The Project: Turning a NAA Mini Revolver into a Steampunk Retro-Modern Knucklegun Homage</strong>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Finally, to the purpose of this thread! Ever since learning about the history of the Apache Knuckleguns many years ago I’ve wanted to try building one of my own. Recent events conspired and that dream is finally becoming a reality. My project will be based on the popular NAA Pug 22Mag mini revolver, in my case one of the limited-edition “The Dude” models of the Pug, of which only 2,000 were made.

<p>
	While the Dolne revolver is the most popularly known Knucklegun variant, the intricacies of the folding grip mechanism make it less appealing to me from the viewpoints of cost, complexity, and practicality. Having to stop and reconfigure the weapon, folding/unfolding it in the middle of a deadly confrontation is a dubious manual of arms at best (Full Conceal anyone?). For that reason as well as my own personal preferences, my Knucklegun project will be loosely based on the Delhaxhe revolver variant, with the muzzle of the revolver fixed in the same orientation as the strike face of the impact surface of the knuckles. This affords practical use of the weapon as both a firearm and an impact tool from one universal, unchanging grip.

</p>

<p>
	I’ve contacted and commissioned a maker of custom brass knuckles who is also familiar with NAA revolvers and the original Apache Knuckleguns (@billy_trident on Instagram) to design and fabricate a special set of four-finger brass knuckles that will attach to the frame of the Pug like a set of replacement grips, solidly integrating the revolver and the knuckles together. The index finger stall of the knuckles will act as the trigger guard, while the remaining stalls and palm brace will create a much more hand-filling and controllable grip for the revolver, ultimately making it far more shootable than the diminutive stock grip. The extra weight of the knuckles will act to absorb what little recoil there is from the 22Mag rounds, and of course will serve as a venerable close-contact impact weapon if and when the cylinder of the revolver runs dry.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	The completed project will not be an exact duplicate of any of the historical Knucklegun variants but will encapsulate the same philosophy of use and spirit of the original designers with a discernibly “Steampunk” twist, and hopefully pay appropriate 21st Century tribute to one of the most curious branches of historical self defense firearms development.
